Sprint to Release Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 on Nov. 11

Earlier this month Sprint announced it would offer the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, though the carrier did not reveal a date. Today, Sprint announced that it will introduce its version of the tablet next week, starting Nov. 11.

While the current version of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 only offer Wi-Fi, the Sprint version of the tablet will offer 4G LTE, allowing users to connect to email and the Web even when out of range of a Wi-Fi network.

This tablet includes a 10.1-inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution, dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and is microSD compatible (with cards up to 64GB).

The slate will also house a 7,000 mAh battery, plus a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera and VGA enabled front-facing camera. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will run on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) thought Samsung is expected to issue a 4.1 (Jelly Bean) upgrade.

Pricing and Availability


Sprint's version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will be available starting Sunday Nov. 11 for $550. Consumers will be able to purchase the tablet in the telecom's retail stores, online at Sprint.com, or by calling 1-800-SPRINT1. Consumers who have Sprint data plans will be able to add the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 to their account for either $15 for 1GB of data or $10 a month for 100MB.   

Other carriers have their eyes on this model as well. Verizon and AT&T are also going to release their own LTE-enabled versions, while T-Mobile is reportedly prepping one with 4G HSPA+.
